UPSTARTERS is a dynamic program for youth brought to you by United Way of Indian River County, designed to empower young people to take an active role in their community. 

Why be an UPSTARTER?
  • Earn your volunteer service hours needed 
  • Get hands-on experience in giving back while fostering leadership skills
  • Learn about the importance of volunteerism and philanthropy
  • Learn about a new nonprofit in our community and how they are helping those in need every month
  • Build relationships with your peers and nonprofit champions in our community

Who is eligible? 9th-12th graders
What is the time commitment? 
  • Attend a monthly meeting, every 3rd Tuesday, at United Way's office from 3:15 PM to 4:30 PM
  • One Saturday a month UPSTARTERS will volunteer as a group at a local nonprofit for approximately 3-4 hours (usually the Saturday following the monthly meeting)
